About First Six
First Six is a white-label student-orientation platform. It helps universities and colleges support new students through their first six weeks, the window where most of the students who leave quietly decide they do not belong.
What it is
There is one idea underneath the product: the first six weeks decide the year, so make them clear, supported, and human. First Six gives every new student a calm, week-by-week companion for settling in, and gives staff a way to notice who is struggling early enough to help.
What it does
Students get a simple app:
- A week-by-week guide to settling in, with the tasks that actually matter each week.
- Their timetable and key dates in one place.
- A short weekly check-in on how they are coping.
- An easy way to ask a question or reach a real person for help.
Staff get a console:
- Author each week's content and keep it current.
- See how a cohort is tracking, without singling anyone out unfairly.
- Step in early when the signals suggest a student needs support, with a clear path to the right people.
Who it is for
First Six is built for universities and colleges that want new students to arrive, settle, and stay. It is used by the people responsible for the student experience: student success and retention teams, wellbeing and support services, and the academic and professional staff who run orientation.
White-label by design
Each institution runs First Six under its own name and branding, so students experience it as part of their own university, not a third-party app. First Six is the platform underneath. For how partners should refer to the product itself, see the brand guidance.
The company
First Six is operated by First Six Technologies Pty Ltd (ACN 699 938 817, ABN 19 699 938 817), trading as First Six. The company is registered in Queensland, Australia and based on the Sunshine Coast. It was founded by Connor McCarthy, who leads it as Managing Director.
Where it runs
First Six is hosted in Australia, and student data stays in Australian data centres. The platform is built privacy-first, with each institution's data kept isolated from every other. For the detail (encryption, access control, tenant isolation, and how to report a vulnerability) see the security posture, and for where data lives and how it is separated see data residency and isolation.
Getting started
The usual path is a short demo walked through with your team, then a pilot with a single intake or faculty before a wider rollout. Single sign-on and student roster sync are supported, so students sign in with their existing institutional accounts and rollout stays light on IT.
For a demo, pricing, or to start a pilot, get in touch through the First Six website. We are happy to walk your team through the product and the safety and compliance detail.
The fastest answer is usually one question away.
