Installing the app on your phone

First Six runs in your browser, but you can add it to your home screen so it opens like any other app — full screen, with its own icon, no address bar. It's the same First Six either way; this just makes it quicker to reach.

On iPhone (Safari)

  1. Open First Six in Safari

Use Safari specifically — the install option lives in Safari's share menu.

  2. Tap Share, then 'Add to Home Screen'

Tap the share icon (the square with an arrow), scroll to "Add to Home Screen", and confirm.

  3. Open it from your home screen

A First Six icon appears with your other apps. Open it and sign in once.

On Android (Chrome)

  1. Open First Six in Chrome

You may see an "Install app" prompt automatically.

  2. Use the menu if there's no prompt

Tap the three-dot menu and choose "Install app" or "Add to Home screen".

  3. Open it from your home screen

The First Six icon joins your app drawer.

Quick shortcuts

Once installed, pressing and holding the icon gives you quick jumps straight to Today, your Timetable, and Ask for help — handy when you just need one thing fast.

Why bother

  • It opens full screen, so there's more room for your week.
  • It's one tap from your home screen instead of a bookmark.
  • It's the gateway to notifications and reminders, which only make sense once it behaves like an app.

Common questions

Is this a separate app from the App Store?

No — there's nothing to download from an app store. "Installing" just saves the web app to your home screen. It updates automatically; you never have to update it manually.

Do I have to install it?

Not at all. Everything works in a normal browser tab. Installing is purely for convenience.

Will it take up much space?

Almost none. It's a shortcut to the web app, not a heavy download.
