The focus timer
Knowing what to do is half the battle; actually starting is the other half. The focus timer attaches a stretch of focused work to a specific task, so "study" becomes "thirty minutes on this assignment".
Using it
- Pick a task and press play
On a task, start the timer. The first time, a short intro explains how it works.
- Work while it runs
A small floating pill shows the timer ticking. You can move around the app — check your timetable, glance at the week — and it keeps going.
- Pause or stop when you're done
Pause for a break, or stop to end the session. When you stop, the time you put in is recorded against that task.
The timer lives with your account, not the page, so navigating around — or even a quick refresh — won't lose your session. You can only run one timer at a time, so your focus stays on a single task.
Why tie it to a task
Timing a vague intention rarely sticks. Timing a concrete task — "read chapter four", "draft the intro" — gives the session a finish line, and the time recorded shows you where your effort actually went across the week.
Common questions
What if I close the app mid-session?
The session is kept on your account, so it isn't lost when you close the tab. Stop it when you're genuinely done so the time is recorded accurately.
Can I run timers on two tasks at once?
No — one at a time, on purpose. Focus is the point.
Does pausing stop the clock?
Pausing is for a quick break. Stop the session when you've finished the work to record the time.
